Get involved with our projects
There are a number of ways in which you can get involved with the Growing the Veg Box project including volunteering opportunities, a range of classes and courses, and employability support through the Garnsychan Partnership‘s Employability Programme. Please get in touch if you have any questions or if you’d like to find out more!
People volunteer for all sorts of reasons! If you’re looking for a job or wish to improve your work-based skills then volunteering can be a great way to bolster your CV – you can get help and support in this regard through our Employability Programme – and volunteering can be a positive experience in terms of socialising, contributing to your community, and improving other peoples’ lives.
At the GVB project volunteers get involved in the garden where they help to grow fruit, veg and herbs for sale through out veg boxes. This can also include landscaping and building work as we sometimes make new raised beds or have repairs to make to our polytunnel, fences, etc. Volunteers also help out with packing veg boxes in the mornings and with deliveries during the day.
Classes and Courses
We currently provide free cookery classes on Tuesdays, host gardening classes once a month, and provide a weekly art class on Mondays. A local history society runs from our centre on the last Monday of every month. Do get in touch for more information!
Many of our volunteers participate in the Garnsychan Partnership’s employability programme which helps people back into work with free courses, help with CV writing and interview skills, and careers advice. Participants can also receive assistance with travel and food expenses. Contact Amanda on 01495 774453 or Amanda@garnsychan.org.uk for more information. You can also follow the programme on Facebook for the latest updates and course information.
